Dear Port Barre High Community, Families, and Town,
Thank you for all you do for our children. Each day, I welcome every student and remind them that they matter to the Port Barre staff. We are committed to giving them the best instruction and are working tirelessly to improve our campus and facilities for their benefit. As I’ve said since day one, "Our kids deserve better." I believe that deeply and hope my efforts reflect that belief.
I ask that you please read this message and use the millage calculator linked above and below for your convenience. The facts are clear: we are one of the lowest-taxing parishes in the state, and it has been 40 years since we last addressed a millage for our schools. I live here, I pay taxes here, and my children deserve more. Please review the information, consider the facts, and make the decision you feel is best — I will respect your choice.
Thank you for taking the time to look into this and for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Coach Mac

As we head into our upcoming games, I want to take a moment to reflect on what it truly means to represent Port Barre High School. When we put on those colors—whether as an athlete on the field or a fan in the stands—we are ambassadors for our school and our community.
Being a Red Devil is about more than just the score on the board; it is about the class we show from the first pitch, whistle, or the final buzzer.

Our Expectations for Conduct
We expect our athletes, parents, and community members to uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship at both home and away events. To ensure an environment we can all be proud of, please remember:
• Zero Tolerance for Profanity: Cursing is strictly prohibited. We are here to support our students in a positive, family-friendly environment.
• Respect the Officials and Opponents: Show class in victory and grace in defeat. We compete hard, but we always compete with integrity.
• Represent Port Barre: Your behavior in the stands is just as visible as the players' behavior on the court or field. Let’s be known for our spirit, not our hostility.
The Definition of a Team
In sports, as in life, everyone has a vital role to play. Our coaches make decisions based on who has earned the right to play through hard work, discipline, and performance.
• Supporting One Another: If a starter is asked to sit, their job remains just as important: to be the loudest cheerleader for their teammates. Just as they were supported all season, they must now return that energy.
• Life Lessons: High school athletics are a training ground for the real world. In life, you won't always "start" or get the promotion on the first try. We are here to teach our students to hold their heads high, learn from their mistakes, and remain committed to the team.
• Equality in Effort: Every student-athlete is valued. No one child is more important than the other. We win as a team, we lose as a team, and we grow as a team.

Let’s show the state, other schools, and our community what Port Barre pride looks like. Let’s lead with character, cheer with passion, and always keep it classy.
Go Red Devils!

Please review the flyer for up to date information.

The future of our schools is a community decision, and we want to ensure all community members are well-informed. Superintendent Milton Batiste III is hosting three informal meetings to walk through the upcoming millage proposal. This isn't just a presentation; it’s a space for you to ask questions, view data, and see exactly how this funding will affect our students, staff, and schools.
If you’ve been wondering why this millage is needed, how it will impact you, how the funds will be used, or if you have read things on social media and you want to ask questions about these topics, these sessions are for you. We’re committed to transparency and want every voter to feel confident and informed before heading to the polls.
